Step-by-Step Process
How to Use Roof Rollers Australia
Pre-Planning in the Office
- Prepare a Truck Plan showing truck & crane arrival/position.
- Create an Elevation or Roof‑View Plan showing where packs will go.
- Liaise with your supplier for pack weights and any insulation/roofing accessories to roll.
The goal: make the crane‑up as efficient as possible.
Risk Assessment
Complete risk‑assessment documentation.
Hold a toolbox meeting the morning of the crane‑up.
Ensure site personnel understand exclusion zone, manual‑handling risks, height hazards.
On-Site Compliance
Clip and sign‑off the safety wire before any roof rolling starts.
Supervisor or builder must inspect and approve the system per Australian standards.
Crane Location & Setup
Pre‑approve crane location with the builder.
Position truck & crane ideally at the gable end of the building for best access.
For large warehouse roofs, stage so the crane is always ahead of the area being built.
Extension Zone & Landing Platform
Once the truck releases straps and packs are free, mark an exclusion zone around the lift area.
Create a landing platform:
- First pack on the edge of the building.
- Second pack ~2‑3 m within rollout area.
- Then lift insulation into place on top of the second pack.
This ensures the wire is tight and insulation doesn’t damage the setup.
Roll-out Using Roof Rollers
- Before the third pack (the roll): check the Roller system is fully functional and lock the brake.
- When the pack is landed on Roof Rollers and unhooked from crane, roofing trades begin the roll.
- Accessories, insulation, roof‑raises, ash‑grid – everything loads directly onto the pack being rolled.
